Female Vaginal Rejuvenation Laser Treatment

As they get older, most women notice changes to their vaginal health, including such unwanted symptoms as dryness, irritation, and loss of sensation. These changes can be brought on by conditions such as pregnancy and childbirth, or they may simply be functions of age. Either way, the good news is that these changes can be mediated or even reversed. One of the most popular treatments for non-surgical vaginal rejuvenation is a laser therapy called DiVa®. We are proud to offer this non-surgical solution to San Antonio patients seeking to restore their vaginal health.

How Does DiVa Work?

The DiVa treatment is unique because it uses two laser beams at once, stimulating the vaginal wall to achieve restoration. The first beam deeply resurfaces vaginal tissue layers, removing the outermost layer and replacing it with healthy new tissue. The second beam heats the layers of skin where collagen exists, accelerating its production to increase vaginal tightness.

Together, these twin beams enhance the thickness of the vaginal walls and rebuild the vagina’s structural support tissues, including those that support the bladder.

What Conditions Does DiVa Treat?

By rejuvenating the vaginal walls and tissues, DiVa laser therapy can help address a number of common concerns. These include:

  • Vaginal dryness
  • Vaginal itchiness or irritation
  • Physical discomfort during sexual intercourse
  • A loss of sexual pleasure and sensation
  • Vaginal atrophy

Who Is a Good Candidate for DiVa?

The best way to assess your eligibility for DiVa laser therapy is to schedule a consultation here at The Heights Plastic Surgery Med Spa. Your doctor will listen carefully to your concerns and needs, ask some questions about your health history, and verify that DiVa is right for you.

The best candidates for DiVa laser therapy usually fall into one of two categories:

  • Women who have experienced vaginal childbirth, resulting in a stretching of the vaginal canal and surrounding tissues.
  • Women whose vaginal health has been adversely affected by menopause, hysterectomy, or chemotherapy.

What To Expect from DiVa Laser Therapy

Before your DiVa procedure, a vaginal numbing cream will be carefully applied to ensure you are completely comfortable throughout the process. The DiVa laser is administered with a small handheld applicator. A single treatment usually involves two or three passes with the laser, which may last 10 to 15 minutes in total. For the best results, most patients need three total sessions, spaced about a month apart.

DiVa Laser Therapy Recovery

There is very little recovery time required, and in fact, most women feel ready to resume their normal activities, including workouts, within a day or so. You can expect light bleeding for two or three days, and it is important not to insert anything into the vagina for about 48 hours. We also advise waiting two days before going into a swimming pool or sitting in the bathtub.
